On Tuesday 3rd March 2009, Birmingham City Council hosted a special transformation event. Already delivering cashable savings in excess of £35 million, helping keep council tax increases to 1.9% for the third year running; Birmingham City Council shared its experiences, lessons learnt and best practice from its transformation programme with local government colleagues.

The event included contributions from well respected keynote speakers together with an exhibition of Birmingham's Business Transformation work streams. Furthermore, delegates had the opportunity to learn from other local authority colleagues about their own transformation plans and journeys; and help develop best practice in transformational government.

The feedback received from delegates who attended the event was extremely positive. Detailed below is a sample of the comments received:

‘The right level of detail and very transferable to other transformation programmes. Well done.’
‘This has been the best conference I have been to in a long time! It was relevant, pitched at the right level and informative. I will be following up with contacts made during the day.’
‘I enjoyed the event. It was well organised, highly informative and above all has given me the evidence and reassurance that business transformation can be successfully implemented in any organisation. No matter how long or complex.’
‘Well organised event. Help was given to find accommodation, which was really appreciated. Best organised conference I have attended for quite a while. Good conference covering a range of relevant areas and high lighting key topics of interest across local authorities. Interesting stands, particularly Champs2. Really encouraging to see this being shared and such a proactive approach to sharing with other authorities. Thanks for your hard work organising this. Definitely worth doing again.’
